A regular meeting of the Board of Directors of the San Diego County Bicycle Coalition (SDCBC) was called to order at 7:00 PM on Wednesday, April 25, 2007, at the Standley Recreation Center by Board Chair Brian Parent, pursuant to a notice [1,2] mailed to all directors.

Printed copies of the minutes of the previous meeting [4] were passed out at the meeting. The reading was waived and the minutes were approved by voice vote.
The treasurer presented a March 2007 Treasurer's Report [5], which was received and submitted for audit by voice vote.
The Membership Chair reported that he was working with Tony to take over the membership database, and that still have approximately 1000 members.
The board discussed the possibility of moving the PO box but took no action.
Dave White reported on the Pedal to the Park event, noting that he had some $30 tickets for sale at the meeting, that he needs volunteers for parking and Tandem captain, and that stage 2 is September 16.
The Executive Director reported on the Fiesta Island Development Plan, and suggested that SDCBC write a letter of support indicating that bicyclists like Fiesta Island as it is, but if you have to mess with it, the current plan is probably OK. A motion that SDCBC support the plan as the Executive Director suggested was made and seconded, and later replaced by a motion that SDCBC support the plan provided no club objects and support is maintained for bicycling events. The motion was passed by voice vote.
The Board then discussed possible support for the SANDAG Regional Transportation Plan. A motion to say to SANDAG that the plan goes in the wrong direction, with not enough money for bicycles, transit, etc. and too much for freeways, etc. was passed by voice vote with one abstention noted.
Jim Baross then presented two proposals: (1) that the City of San Diego should enact an ordinance to require bicycle parking for civic events and (2) that SDCBC should acquire some bicycle racks to provide bicycle parking. A motion to empower Jim Baross to serve on the Bicycle Advisory Board was passed by voice vote.
The Executive Director presented a list of four events to which SDCBC may want to send representatives:
The Re-Bike representatives proposed to rent a blue building on 14th Street at K Street in Downtown San Diego for $500 per month, on a month-to-month tenancy until the building is razed. A motion to allocated six months' rent ($3000) for this purpose was passed by voice vote. The Re-Bike project has a Web site at http://www.earnabike.org/.
The Executive Director distributed printed copies of the Executive Director's Report, which had previously been distributed in electronic form [6]. She also noted (1) that volunteers are needed for Bike to Work Day, to work at pit stop at Caltrans in Old Town and to appear on camera for Channel 10, (2) there will be no pit stop at the KNBC 7/39 Building in Downtown San Diego, (3) there will be a pit stop at the Visitor Center on Harbor Drive at Broadway, and (4) that we should do something for the San Diego River Day the day after Bike to Work Day.
