BLT Rides (Bike & Learn Together)
A Casual Bike Ride with Traffic Safety Education
Once a month we offer a fun ride in a scenic part of San Diego County. Part learning experience, part coffee jaunt, these rides welcome all riders, but are geared for beginners. If you would like an introduction to road riding, riding in a group or just a nice morning out with some fun bicyclists, this is a ride for you. The rides are typically 8-10 miles, mostly flat on bike paths and lightly traveled roads. We do it at a pace that encourages talking and interaction. We talk a lot, stop a lot, while having fun and getting information about riding in various situations. No one is ever left behind.
Registration isn't required- just show up, ride, and enjoy!
Upcoming BLT Rides BLT RIDE-Sunday, October 25th, 2014
October - Saturday Oct 25, 2014. Hwy 56-meet at 10:00 in the parking lot in front of0 Souplantation. 3804 Valley Center Drive 92130.
This is fun and easy ride along the 56 Bike Path and can be as long or as short as the riders wish it to be. We usually like to do 10 to 12 miles, first heading west through the tree-lined path to the end, returning and continuing East until we want to stop. A really scenic, fun and easy ride well suited to beginners, but all levels are welcome.
November - Sunday, November 23, 2014. Downtown - Meet at 10:00 in Balboa Park in the parking lot at the corner of Park Blvd and Presidents Way. Ride the Downtown bike loop. This ride is a great way to enjoy the Downtown area from our bikes. We may even make a few stops at places of interest along the way, perhaps even the Farmer's Market!
The Bike and Learn Together (BLT) rides are great for
less experienced riders (although all riders are welcome). BLT rides are on bike paths or lightly
traveled streets, and nobody is left behind. Hosted by San Diego County Bicycle Coalition and lead by League of
American Bicyclists certified cycling instructors (LCIs), BLT rides are a great
way to improve your riding skills.
