Printed copies of the minutes of the previous meeting [4]
were passed out at the meeting.
The reading was waived and the minutes were approved by voice vote.
The Treasurer distributed copies of a
Treasurer's report [5], which had been previously E-mailed
to all Board members. It was received and submitted for
audit by a voice vote.
The Board then turned to the
2010 Campaign for Active Transportation of the
Rails to Trails Conservancy (RTC), which was previously discussed
by E-mail [9].
The Executive Director described what would be required of SDCBC to
participate in the campaign, and a motion to that effect was
made. The discussion was interrupted
when three representatives of KTU+A
[Mike Singleton, John Holloway, and John Punsalan] arrived, and the motion was
laid on the table.
Three representatives of KTU+A gave a report on their activities:
- Bicycle improvements in Imperial Beach, including
bike lanes on Palm Ave. between Highway 75 and Third Ave., and
bike lanes, frontage lanes, or other improvements on Palm Ave. east
of this area.
- Work on the Del Mar pedestrian/bicycle analysis, including
trails and walkways, will start in about a week.
- Work on the Oceanside Bicycle Master Plan is just beginning.
Oceanside wants to be classified as a bicycle-friendly community.
- A fairly complete report on the Fiesta Island Park Precise Plan,
including
maps of proposed configurations [6], and a referral to
www.fiestaislandgdp.com for
further information.
The 2010 Campaign discussion was taken from the table and then postponed
to the next regular meeting.
The Executive Director presented a written
Executive Director's Report, which had
previously been distributed in electronic form [7].
Carol Carr presented an oral newsletter report, including
the following items:
- An article on the extension of the Ocean Beach Bike Path to
Hotel Circle Place.
- Another "We Won!" article on the Western Salt bike path on the
Bayshore Bikeway.
- An article on bicycle locks.
- The next newsletter volunteer meeting will be on October 10, with
the location still undecided.
- We need $130 for postage.
- October 1 is the deadline for material for the next issue.
- A Pedal to the Park wrap-up.
- Something about the Carmel Valley Road bike lanes.
- A request for announcements of SDBC's Santa Toy Ride in the next two
issues.
- An announcement of income of $270 from the sale of glow bracelets at
the Midnight Madness Ride, and an acknowledgement of Richard Duquette's
donation.
Stephan Vance gave a report on the Bayshore Bikeway, noting
that City Council approval had been obtained, and that the
matter now goes to the Coastal Commission.
Stephan Vance and Jim Baross gave a report on the
Walk Bike Conference.
Brian Parent reported on the UCSD Pedal Club, which is not
actually a bike club, but a program of UCSD regarding bicycling
and parking.
Dave White gave a report on Pedal to the Park Stage 2 and
passed out copies of a written report [8].
The following club reports were given by club representatives:
-
North County Cycle Club: Sold about $10,000 worth of clothing.
-
San Diego Bicycle Club: Wants announcements of the Santa Toy Ride in
other club newsletter.
-
Knickerbikers: Los Angeles Bike Trip on October 13-14 and a 200 km
Brevet Ride on October 13. [?]
-
Tandem Club: Laguna Triangle ride this Sunday.
The next regular meeting was discussed. Board members indicated,
by a show of hands, whether their travel distance was shorter to the
Standley Park location or the downtown location, but no decision was
announced. The Executive Director announced that the next meeting will cover general
policies and procedures.
The Webmaster announced that material on the "About Us" page is
out-of-date and poorly written, that the Board picture is awful, and
that he wanted individual pictures of Board members for posting on the
Web site.
The meeting was adjourned by general consent at 8:45 PM.
