The photo shows the NEW Carmel Valley Rd. bike lane near Portofino Dr. in Del Mar. Kathy and I have sent 2 requests to City of San Diego to make the utility trenching crew that did this come back and fix it. The City says it should have been done by now......the old story. While it's not a major hazard, it angers me that the city has a policy of NOT allowing such sloppy trenching jobs, and since this is a brand new bikelane, less than 3 months old, why can't the city follow its own policy?

This and the following two images show the very bad state of the bike lane along Pomerado Road just south of Mirasol Drive in Rancho Bernardo. The whole stretch along here has very hazardous longitudinal cracks that coudl easily catch a wheel.  There are also pot holes and ruts. This was reported to the City of San Dieo 11/15/07 through the Street Division Service Request web site. The processs was smooth and easy

As of 11/21/07 the San Diego City Street Division reports this service request status as follows:

"In Process - Your request has been received and reviewed by Street Division. It is currently being scheduled, or in the process of being researched."

"After" Pictures are as of 11.24.07

They tried but the attempt at repair fell far short of what I expected.

There is a lot of work still needed her before I would consider riding in the biek lane.

Pomerado Road III

Submitted by Wade Blomgren 9/10/07:

This is on eastbound Sorrento Valley Boulevard in front of Ambit (4215), taken on 12/9/07.  The collapse has deepened to about 6-8 inches, if someone fails to notice it and hits it, it won't be pretty.  I've submitted a request to the streets maintenance dept.

The repair was done on around 12/17/07, so it took about a week - not bad.   The patch is rideable - not particularly smooth.
